【UP2】Healthy Cookie

I love sweets, but eating too many isn’t good for the body. So, I wanted to make a healthy snack that’s also good for the body — and I found the perfect recipe on Skinnytaste, a website that focuses on healthy and balanced recipes. The site is run by Gina Homolka, a cookbook author and recipe developer who specializes in lightened-up versions of everyday meals. Her recipes are known for being both nutritious and satisfying, which is exactly what I was looking for.

I tried making the oatmeal cookies once, following the recipe exactly. I was able to find all the ingredients at a supermarket near my house, so it was easy to prepare. Each step was simple and mostly involved just mixing the ingredients together, which made the process really straightforward. The cookies weren’t too sweet, so I thought it might be nice to add a bit of honey or sugar next time, depending on your taste.

The biggest strengths of this recipe are that it’s healthy, delicious, and requires only a few basic ingredients. When people think of cookies, they often imagine lots of oil and sugar, but this recipe uses walnuts as the main fat source, making it much lower in calories and fat. It’s a great option for anyone looking for a guilt-free snack.
However, one weakness is the texture. The cookies came out a bit sticky and dense rather than crispy or chewy. This texture might not appeal to everyone, especially those who prefer traditional cookies with a lighter bite.

What I really liked about the blog post was how it emphasized the health benefits without sacrificing taste. If you’re not concerned about keeping calories or fat low, I think the cookies would still taste great with a small amount of butter, sugar, or even chocolate chips. The post was accompanied by helpful step-by-step photos and a video, which made the process easier to understand and follow. The recipe has a high rating of 4.5 stars, and I can see why — it’s easy, wholesome, and accessible.

I would recommend this oatmeal cookie recipe to anyone who wants a healthier alternative to traditional cookies — especially people who are trying to eat more plant-based foods or reduce their intake of added sugars and fats. It's also a great choice for beginners, since the steps are very easy and don't require any special equipment or advanced cooking skills.

Overall, I thought this was a great recipe. I especially appreciated how Skinnytaste offers a wide variety of healthy options, including many vegan and gluten-free recipes. Although I don’t have any allergies or dietary restrictions myself, I’m becoming more interested in plant-based cooking, so this recipe was a fun and rewarding experience. The clear instructions, photos, and video made it easy to follow and inspired me to try more recipes from the site. I also learned the importance of visual presentation in food blogs — good photos really do make you want to cook!
