UP1 Refrection

On May 8th, I listened to Ms. Tomomi Duquette's talk and learned many things.

 I'm going to write about the things that impressed me in this blog. 

The first thing is that even in Niigata, culture is different. 

I'm not from Niigata, and I don't know much about my hometown culture. 

So, I was surprised to see that even in Niigata, culture is slightly different.

 Also, I thought it was wonderful that Niigata's sake lovers don't just enjoy drinking, 

but bring positive change to culture through alcohol, beyond the language barrier. 

The second thing is Tomomi's way of thinking about English. 

I thought that when I learned English, I had to get the basics down so that I could converse properly. 

However, Tomomi said that English is just a tool to communicate with people.

 I was taken aback by her words, and realized that we use English to communicate,

 and that it's important to have the desire to communicate with others without prejudice or stereotypes and not worry about small mistakes. 

The third thing is about Ikigai.

 I've been thinking about what I want to do, what is in demand in society, what I'm good at, and what is important to prioritize. 

However, after reading Tomomi's explanation and seeing her ikigai chart, 

I realized that I don't need to compromise on anything, and that I should aim for the middle of everything.

 It made me think that I want to be someone who can work hard at what I love, just like Ms. Tomomi Duquette.
